Để làm phần sốt, bạn cho xì dầu, đường và rượu trắng vào chảo nhỏ rồi đun ở lửa nhỏ cho đến khi hỗn hợp sánh lại và sôi lên như hình. Khi hỗn hợp sôi, bắc ra khỏi bếp, thêm dầu vừng và giấm vào rồi khuấy đều. Cho phần sốt ra một tô lớn.
Lấy thịt gà ra, để riêng cho ráo rồi áo qua với một lớp bột bắp. Lúc này, thịt gà sẽ có độ dính nhất định.
Làm nóng 1 chảo dầu sẵn trên bếp. Áo thịt gà qua vừng trắng rồi cho gà vào rán ngập dầu cho đến khi gà chuyển màu vàng nâu. Khi rán xong, cho gà vào phần nước sốt đã chuẩn bị từ bước 2, lắc đều cho gà ngấm nước sốt rồi bày ra đĩa.
