Đập dập, bóc vỏ, băm nhuyễn 2 tép tỏi, 1 củ hành tím. Đặt một chiếc nồi lên bếp, cho dầu ăn vào, mở lửa vừa. Khi dầu nóng, thả hành tỏi, sả băm vào phi thơm. Sau đó, cho thịt vịt vào chiên sơ các mặt.
Khi thịt vịt săn lại, đổ một ít nước sạch ngập mặt thịt, nấu thêm 40 phút rồi tắt bếp.
Bày thịt vịt kho sả ra ăn kèm với cơm. Có thể cho một ít ớt đỏ vào để dậy mùi.
